Program
“Erdkinder” – The Montessori Answer to Adolescence
The Montessori Adolescent Student has needs, which are distinct from those of the elementary child. The Adolescence Program curriculum integrates intellectual and practical work, providing opportunities for students to directly apply the curriculum to meaningful adult work tasks. Students can live their studies, resulting in greater levels of engagement. The work on the land is physical and this facilitates the integration of the daily changes in the adolescent’s body.
School with residential aspect
By living, studying and working on a farm, young people learn to share duties, experience responsibility for the community. They learn the rules and their meaning in a socially organized environment, and begin their path towards adulthood. Here they live, cook, prepare and eat meals together. They take care of animals, plan budgets, undertake repairs and do shopping, cleaning and washing.
They learn and work in symbiosis with nature, at the same time running a farm which is also their own business. They fully enjoy benefits such as living in an ecologically conscious environment, learning the rules of a healthy, responsible life and the basics of marketing and trade by offering their products for sale at the local market.
The school is open from Monday to Friday.
All students need to be at School on on Sunday evening between 18:00 and 19:30.)
The day starts at 7:00 a.m. Although academic studies will start at 9:30 A.M. Every day the students take part in daily chores as a responsibility, community contribution, and a fact of life.
