Work And Study Program: Adventures and Gratitude at the Farm School

Our program at the Montessori Farm School is inspired by Maria Montessori’s idea that adolescents learn best through practical, real-world activities. By working on the farm, students not only learn academic subjects but also gain important life skills like responsibility, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Our Typical Day

Everyday at our farm school is a mix of classroom time and farm work. We start the day with a community meeting where we all gather together to share how we feel, make acknowledgements, and pass information.

During the day, students attend classes where they study subjects like Science, English, History, Spanish and Micro Economy.. we also have outdoor activities like Gardening, Bee Keeping.. Once a week they also have music and swimming classes.

We connect these lessons to farm activities. For example, students might study plant biology in class and then go outside to work in the garden.

They go to the kitchen, help in preparing meals. We sit together for meals, take care of ourselves and the community.

Students also have many outdoor sessions like photography, yoga, art.. Along with photography they also have photo editing classes.

In the afternoon, students have a wood workshop at the woodshed. Math and Polish teachers also come in, and twice a week, they wait for their chess teacher! They also have outdoor sessions where they get together for sports or community building games. Later they head to the farm. They might be planting seeds, caring for animals, or fixing a fence. This hands-on work makes their classroom learning come alive and shows them how to apply what they’ve learned in real life.

Few Aspects of Farm Life that indirectly helps the adolescents –

Practical Skills: Students learn how to grow plants, take care of animals, and use tools.

Personal Growth: Working on the farm teaches responsibility, teamwork, and time management.

Community Spirit: Students work together, building strong friendships and a sense of community.

Love for Nature: By working closely with the land, students develop a deep respect for the environment. Just like Ms. Małgosia Tarnowska says ‘More Green, Less Screen!’

Our Work and Study Program prepares students for the future. They leave our farm school with a solid academic foundation and practical skills. They are confident, responsible, and ready to tackle whatever comes next.
